On September 8, the First Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov summed up the results of the III World Nomad Games during a press conference at the Physical culture and recreation center in the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu of the Issyk-Kul region.
Boronov expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to all organizers, participants, guests, spectators and media on the successful completion of the Nomad Games.
“The III World Nomad Games have become one of the most significant events in our history, in the history of all nomads. The III World Nomad Games were called one of the unique and popular events in which sports and cultural delegations from different countries took part. The organizers of the Games tried to recreate the atmosphere in which the nomads lived a few centuries ago,” said Boronov, hoping that the guests, journalists could fully immerse in nomad lifestyle, enjoy beautiful local nature.
“Thanks to harmony and social cohesion, common desire to hold the World Nomad Games at a high level, today we can confidently say that the III World Nomad Games were held at the appropriate level under the slogan “United in force! United in spirit!” the official said.
Kubatbek Boronov noted that the agreement was reached with Turkey to hold the IV World Nomad Games in 2020 in Turkey. “We are sure that this project in the future will only develop and involve more new participants,” the official said.
Boronov informed that 303.1 million soms were allocated from the state budget for organizing the III World Nomad Games (in 2016 – 258.6 million). In total, the prize fund of the III World Nomad Games for the sports section was approved in the amount of 28 million soms, for the cultural part – 7 million soms.
“In the light of the tremendous organizational work, I want to thank all people involved in this large-scale work. I would like to express special gratitude to representatives of business and volunteers for their active participation in the preparation of these events and the reception of numerous guests who arrived to Kyrgyzstan in the framework of the III World Games of nomads,” said Boronov, noting involved services which helped in all emerging issues fast.
The program included 37 sports (in 2016 – 23 only). Athletes from 103 countries of the world were invited to the Games, only 1,976 participants from 74 countries arrived.
According to the official, summing up the preliminary results of sports competitions, it should be note that in the overall team title the national team of the Kyrgyz Republic holds the leadership. The national team has 100 medals: 40 gold, 30 silver and 30 bronze.
The second one in the list is the national team of Kazakhstan with 69 medals: 16 gold, 24 silver and 29 bronze. The Russian team is on the third place with 52 medals: 16 gold, 11 silver and 25 bronze.
The fourth place took the team of Turkmenistan with 27 medals: 10 gold, 5 silver, 12 bronze. The fifth place was taken by the team of Uzbekistan with 33 medals: 7 gold, 8 silver, 18 bronze.
The closing ceremony of the III World Nomad Games is a bright and memorable show with the participation of about 500 performers, stuntmen and athletes.
“Due to the fact that the next World Nomad Games in 2020 will be held in the Republic of Turkey, a symbolic transfer of the World Nomad Games to the host party takes place during the closing ceremony. It is symbolic that the Republic of Turkey will be handed with glacial water in a vessel (kookor) as a totem of the World Nomad Games, as well as with a book of great winners,” said Kubatbek Boronov, explaining that glacial water is not just chosen by chance. One of the main problems today is the problem of fresh water. The Kyrgyz Republic, where the reserves of drinking glacial water are 650 billion m3, attaches great importance to the preservation of ecological balance and water resources.
The transfer ceremony includes a special ritual starting with filling the vessel on a glacier, which is then brought by an ethno-escort to the central arena of the race track, where the transfer of a vessel with glacial water passes with the wishes of prosperity and welfare. This is not accidental, because water is rightfully considered a symbol of life. This ritual is an alternative to the Olympic flame being equal in its strength and design.
If at the opening ceremony of the Nomad Games a theatrical performance revealed the philosophy of nomads, then at the closing ceremony this topic will be continued, but with an emphasis on present times.
“Once again I want to thank all the organizers, participants and spectators of the World Nomad Games for the efforts, thanks to each of you the competitions were held at a high organizational level. Separately, I want to thank representatives of media for a large-scale and prompt coverage of the event,” concluded Kubatbek Boronov.
Answering the journalists' questions regarding Kyrgyzstan's participation and contribution to the organization of the IV WNG, Boronov said that the Turkish side has already received complaints requests. “The group of organizers of all World Nomad Games will also participate in the organization of the IV World Nomad Games. If requests are received from the next country, which will hold the V World Nomad Games, we are also ready to help in organizational part. We are interested in this issue. We want to promote the Nomad Games, so this project will be further developed. We hope that Kyrgyzstan will also be the leader of the competitions in 2020,” said Kubatbek Boronov.
The Head of WNG Secretariat Nursultan Adenov responded to the questions from journalists about the further use of the official WNG logo and said that the rights for the emblem of the World Nomad Games belong to the Kyrgyz Republic.
“This is an intellectual property of our country. Turkey will use this logo with the documentary permission of the Kyrgyz side. With each Games we change the brand book, according to the concept around the main logo new images are added, the same will be with the next Nomad Games,” Adenov said.
